MY VIRTUES
Sebastian Hernandez 9th grade
Character experiment
Commitment: “The state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc”. Using this virtue I can accomplish more of the things that I want to do during my lifetime. For example staying committed to school is very important. If I stop being committed to school then i'll begin to fall behind. After comes cause of effect and then I'll fail my classes. Failing my classes would make my college application bad and then I wouldn’t end up going to a top college. My dreams would be ruined. So I plan to use this virtue through the school year. I hope that it allows me to test myself and see exactly how far I can stay focused on getting through this school year with the best grades that I possibly can.
Respect: “A feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements”. I choose respect because I am told often that I need to respect my teachers and that I need to respect my parents. They are the people in my life that I look up to. They are the people that are always pushing me to become a better person and they are always helping me improve the person that I already am. I plan on growing this virtue by not only appreciating the time and work that my teachers and parents put in for me but by showing it. I will make a large effort to show them how much I actually care.
Cooperation: “The process of working together to the same end’. Becoming more cooperative allows people to realize how much they could actually do. When you are cooperative you get better social skills and you become more understanding about yourself and others. It allows you to hear different opinions other than you own which makes you less stubborn. It also allows you to learn your strengths by having your team or group telling you how good you can actually become at something. My plan to grow this virtue is by implementing it into a variety of team work groups and teams I am in such as robotics and the AMC swimming team.
